Old Yeller, Come Back Yeller

So sorry, this week has been busy! Here we go.

Saturday was a long day! As we were leaving we noticed Jackson had mail.
Special delivery!

Old Yeller!
This was his second movie from Poppy and Granny (my Dad and Step Mom). Toy Story 3 came not long ago and now my childhood favorite! He was really excited.  I remembered a lot of the movie, but I see it from such a different perspective now! I have the theme song in my head too.

We hit up Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity to see what they had. I love some cheap stuff and I have a project to attempt that involves candle holders. We found a couple. Really I could have bought a lot more but with the upcoming move, I didn't.
We love Firehouse. He ate his entire meatball sub.
Then to Target we went. We were in there forever! Before going in, we had to pass Petsmart...on a Saturday :( For 10 years I have done a great job of avoiding the entrance to Petsmart on Saturday because of the tailspin of depression I get from the Humane Society dogs out front. This time Jackson saw them and wanted to say hi. I petted this little old beagle for the majority of the time we were there. If I owned my own house right now, he would have been our new baby. Older dogs are harder to find homes for and he was so calm and sweet. Jack loved him too. I would have named him Copper.
Once we left Target there was a really cool car show going on across the parking lot. We took a cruise through. Jack loved it!

Utilizing his "like new" table from Goodwill. I love the
side compartments for coloring books, crayons and juice!
We rented the Muppet's from Redbox for all of us to watch. It held Jack's attention the entire time. I didn't realize it was a musical too. Bonus! He couldn't sit still, had to sing and dance. I couldn't believe how much he enjoyed it.

So, for the longest time now we have been walking this new street in our subdivision. Jackson could run free because there were no cars. We thought they had given up on building any houses there because it stayed the same for almost a year with no progress. Now suddenly, there are houses popping up every other day! I just blogged about it very recently while the street was vacant.

We went to church Sunday morning. Afterwards we went to the Mexican Restaurant up the street from our house, Acapulco's for lunch (kids eat free on Sunday surprise!) Our walk followed late lunch.

Monday the boys took me to my ENT follow up. It was much later than average because of my July trip to Arkansas. Much to my surprise, he ran a scope up my nose to check things out. He "numbed" it first. NOT. My goodness I was not prepared for that. It hurt worse than when I woke up from surgery! He had to go way back because of the location of the sphenoid sinus. All looked well up there he said. I'm convinced I have a brain bruise from the whole thing haha! I was sure my nose was going to bleed but it never did.

Jeremy had a presentation to run through back at work, so Jackson and I went with him and hung out at his desk while he took care of that. We brought Jack's scooter and all was great. He always has to snoop around and play with the office stuff too.
We were on the way to the playground when these clouds started rolling in. Darn! So he settled for his tow truck at "Taco Bell" AKA the PX. There is plenty of room to run and chase a bouncy ball in there too, which is just what he did.

I got my blog books printed off. Can you believe there are 750 pages of our life documented in Volume 1 and 2? So cool! Volume one is all the way up to Jack's birthday. Volume 2 is up until I started this second blog.

Yesterday was another day at the park with our neighbors. He is really going to miss Paola. We will make it to her 4th birthday party and leave the week afterwards. I feel bad for the kids because they don't realize what the next goodbye will be.

Feeding the fish then the geese!

There is a new sweet shop in town, Lulu's. It is great and they're so nice! We went by there with our friends after the park and before my Publix trip. Jeremy met us there too. There was a huge downpour of rain while we were inside. Then the sun was back out. This has been happening every day here!
He picked a chocolate covered pretzel. I had divinity
and a little coconut haystack thing. So good!
Lots of family news came in today plus Jeremy got so much information at work, concerning orders and when we leave. They bumped everything up a month sooner than we expected, so now we are in a "hurry up" zone of the all too familiar "hurry up and wait" that the army puts people through. Our movers will probably be here September 20th. Yikes! I'm not ready but I won't be then either so....C'est la vie
We needed to go for a walk. I was too keyed up with all the new information...and probably the coffee and sweets I'm sure! God knows what I love and what I need when. Last night during our walk he provided the most beautiful sunset and clouds to slow and calm me down. Loved it!

Y'all know how I feel about the sky! It was a great time for a walk.
Cool blue streak
Today was another normal type of day with lil man. Jeremy's real presentation was today, so he got home late from work (almost 6). Luckily I had my helper! We went back to Publix. The new sale starts on Wednesday and my coupons were going to expire. So off we went. Guess what happened while we were in Publix, about to walk out? Massive downpour! I love the employees there. They are so thoughtful and pleasant. Nothing like the Wal Marts around here. Jackson just eats them up too. They always give him crayons and a coloring book. So the girl helping me with the groceries was carrying on with Jackson and he told me he needed to go to the bathroom as we were checking out. I figured we would take our cart over and leave it then go unload our own groceries in the car but I was wrong! She stayed with the cart while we were in the bathroom and then stayed with Jackson out front in the dry and waited while I pulled the car around! She had her raincoat on and started loading my groceries while I put Jackson in the car. I already feel like I know the people there because we are regulars (obviously) so I wasn't worried about Jackson with them. In fact, I asked him if we wanted to run to the car with me or stay in his car with her and he chose her haha! The buggy is a car buggy with steering wheels. He "drove" them outside to wait for me.

Once home I unloaded the cold stuff and we got dinner started.
I made a different recipe tonight that called for bacon. This is probably the second time in my life I have bought bacon. Anyway, we made (turkey) bacon BBQ lima beans. Different right? So good! Jackson was eating as fast as I could cook..so we tripled our amount. Poor boy has been bacon deprived. He also loved the black peppered BBQ sauce with brown sugar that we stirred in the beans. Yum!

Different but so good

Our laundry room and utility closet (turned pantry) is right off of our kitchen. I caught the cook in there on his break eating an apple.

Would you believe after the beans, rosemary garlic chicken and the other sides he still had some chef left in him? So next up was chocolate chip cookies. He did great and had a blast. Although I am slowly clearing out my stockpile, the grocery trips won't stop unless the deals do...except for cold stuff. We have a trailer to haul back our immediate things anyway. The army will be moving the rest.

We finally got around to watching Old Yeller tonight after dinner, like I said earlier I have the song stuck in my head! Jackson kept wanting us to replay it.

Well,  Jeremy is only working a half day tomorrow and then our 4.5 day weekend adventures begin!

I didn't get around to blogging Wednesday for some reason. We spent the majority of the day outside! Jackson woke up and wanted to wear my robe on Wednesday morning. We had a surprise from Daddy once we got to the kitchen and he was grinning from ear to ear when he saw his note :)

That evening we spent outside with lots of flames to deter the mosquitoes. They really aren't as bad as they were, but Jeremy has a problem with them regardless. They are drawn to him. Just in case, I put Jackson in some sleeves and pants. We played with leftover sparklers, citronella candles, and tiki torches once again. I'm channeling my inner Hawaiian with the tikis...oh how I miss Hawaii.

Thursday included a trip to post for another appointment. Jack always says "There's Daddy's work!" when we get to his favorite part of the drive, the entrance to Fort Benning. He loves the flags, fountains, and statues! It is really pretty

We had to get prescription refills....exciting.
At the refill pharmacy in the Exchange

Big boy carrying out our stuff from the PX

Next up we decided to try the Mexican place on post. I could eat guacamole everyday, and apparently Jackson could too. He stole ours and ate almost all of it! Other than awesome guac the restaurant was just OK.

After dinner we went to the playground for about an hour. Jackson still didn't want to leave. It was right next to the dog park and it made me miss my pups!

Once we got home after a very quick CT scan, Jackson was thrilled to find a special delivery at the door. He had no clue what was inside!
He was headed inside with his new play doh

Calling Nana to say thank you

Friday we met up with our neighbors for play time at the playground and splash park here in town. Jack choose the location. He wanted to go to post for the really nice pools and splash area but this place was a close second for him. We are going to be on post quite a bit next week, so I didn't want to drive over there Friday. That and I wasn't sure if I would get dizzy and wanted to be close to home.

His favorite part of the splash park is this gun.
Fun! I would have loved this as a kid. Maybe even now :)

That is his little friend there in the pink
When we first arrived, Jackson was the only kid in the splash area. He loved it. Then around 4 or 5 younger little girls eventually came out to play. For once, my kid was the oldest and roughest! That was new haha! He wasn't really rough, but at one point a little tiny girl was making her way across and he sprayed her with the gun :-/ and thought it was hilarious. He is used to being one of the little guys, but not this time! I watched him pretty closely and told him to look out for the small people! Once an equally mischievous little girl got the other gun and started spraying him...he looked back at me and I told him to shoot her back. She didn't like it very much. She kept coming back for more though and his lil evil grin stayed on his face. More people, including his buddy showed up about 20 minutes after we got there. I was wondering how we got so lucky on a Friday with hardly no one there, but then Sophia reminded me that school had started.

They played well together. At one point another little girl their age was playing with them. He experienced his first "third wheel" situation :( They left him out some, but he handled it well. He would just take off to play on his own or would get me to go push him on the swing. The rest of the time he was showing off  for them. He had to be the highest on the spinny thing and the fastest to spin them. It ended with so much spinning that he told me he was going to be sick. His cheeks were so pink, poor guy.

He was tired and cranky when we got home. I cooked dinner then we sat out front and let him play. I got a new volleyball Thursday and I'm so excited about it. I love playing with or without a net. I think Jeremy was sick of me hitting the ball to him, but I need a partner to play with me! Jackson just kept taking it from me and running.
